A GREAT SUCCESS IN THE LABORATORY OF PERCUSSION CENTER FOR THE ARTS

Currently taught in the area of Music Arts Center San Luis Potosi Centennial Percussion Lab Summer, which is made up of twelve students, and is taught by Valentin Galkin, a native of Russia, a specialist in the area percussion and a proven track record at international level.

The workshop was divided into two different groups, the younger, who have about 14 or 15 years, accompanied by a small eight years, and adults, whose ages range between 24 and 25. The course is aimed not only drums, but is complemented with the grammar of music or music theory, the principle of harmony, piano and percussion theory.

About interacting with students of the course, the teacher Valentin says: "They all responded very well, somehow they were all new to this, some parts are difficult. The general idea is that there is just going to learn to master Latin instruments such as bongos and timbales, but also contemplated some that are really important as the marimba, xylophone and vibraphone. It is difficult to delve into all of them but at least have an idea of how to work and then are multi percussion instrument. "

Similarly, the members used specialized music software, which Galkin said: "We integrated this, because sometimes young people do not know how to do as discontinuity between the sound and graphics, which is essential for musicians." That way the course is complemented not only in the aspect of the execution of the instruments, but also in technology applied to music education.

Usually, each class is a challenge because each student has a different profile and each of us want to delve into different areas. According to Galkin: "We worked melodic instruments. The vibraphone is perhaps the most complicated machinery in question, so we practice on the piano to learn to operate the pedal and improve coordination, without neglecting more traditional areas such as battery. "

In the words of the master Galkin, the Center for the Arts is focused on providing support for all students to grow professionally, perfilándolos for specialization. Among the future projects of the teacher, is a professional program of study of percussion at the Center for the Arts which will cover an additional five years, in order to mediate between formal studies and studies alternative conservatory, which enables the student formed as a musician on par with their higher education or upper secondary.
